PORTRAITS

The portraits  show people of different ages, states of existence and time of life –  at the moment when the mask falls. They allow an impartial view of the person – stripped of status, role and function, reflecting their innermost self. Inspired by a particular interest in people, their faces and stories. The picture captures the core of this experience. It captures the moment of the encounter, the encounter with that which is deep and meaningful, that moves us, that touches us deeply. This is how Lili met the 87 year old nurse, Margarita Fontanilla, in Trinidad, Cuba in 2003. Moved by her inner beauty Lili painted an entire series of her and her world filled with personal memories.
